The Legacy Ranch segment extends between the junction of SR 260 and FR 9316 near Forest Lakes to the junction of FR 166 and FR 124 near Overgaard in Navajo County. The alignment climbs steadily from the SR 260 corridor with the route passing through ponderosa pine and oak woodlands before transitioning into mixed conifer and aspen at higher elevations. The roadway consists primarily of gravel and rocky two-track with moderate grades and occasional ledges and tight tree lines, offering expansive views across the Mogollon Rim with potential sighting of wild horses possible. The segment is named for Legacy Ranch, a historic property and working ranch in the area that reflects the region's frontier heritage and ongoing ties to ranching traditions.
