The Canyon Point segment runs from the junction of FR 288 and FR 200 near Young northward toward the junction of SR 260 and FR 9316 at Forest Lakes in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. This stretch climbs steadily from riparian creek bottoms and forested drainage lines, up into ponderosa pine and mixed conifer stands as elevation increases, with rocky ridgelines and canyon vistas opening toward the Mogollon Rim. Terrain includes graded two-track forest roads, steeper climbs, occasional loose rock, and ridgecrest exposures with expansive views of the high country.

Safety note
High-clearance 4WD is strongly recommended. Weather can change rapidly, snow or storms possible near the Rim, creek crossings may be slippery or impassable after rain, and water is not guaranteed. Bring extra fuel, navigation aids (maps/GPS/GPX), appropriate gear, and allow for more time in difficult sections.
