The View after View segment extends between the junction of FR 115 and FR 300 (Rim Road) and the western terminus of FR 300 at SR 87, tracing the very edge of the Mogollon Rim. The alignment follows high, Rim-top forests and overlooks with far-reaching vistas toward the Mazatzal Mountains and Tonto Basin. Notable points of interest include multiple pullouts along the Rim Road and the spur to Milk Ranch Point, a classic balcony over the escarpment.
This segment consists primarily of graded dirt/cinder on FR 300 with frequent washboard and occasional embedded rock; in dry conditions, much of it is drivable at low speeds in standard vehicles, though higher clearance improves comfort and control. Expect dust, tight sightlines near curves, and short steeper pitches near overlooks.
Points of interest
- Multiple pullouts along the Rim Road (FR 300)
- Milk Ranch Point (spur overlook)
Safety note
Weather on the Rim changes quickly. Summer monsoons can create slick surfaces and localized washouts, and seasonal gates/closures are common in winter. Cell service is inconsistent; carry maps/GPS and travel self-sufficient. Check Coconino NF for road status of FR 300 and nearby routes before departure.
