The Doll Baby segment extends between the Power Line corridor south of the Rim (junction of SR 87 and the Power Line Connector Road) and West Doll Baby Ranch Road (junction of FR 406 and FR 511) west of Payson. The alignment descends off Rim-top forest into the East Verde country, finishing on FR 406 toward the Doll Baby area, a gateway to the Mazatzal Wilderness and the Arizona Trail.
This segment combines utility-corridor two-track (rocky, with short steep pitches) and FR 406, which is mostly paved with the final miles turning to graded dirt beyond the ranch area; expect embedded rock, ruts, and washboards after storms. High-clearance 4WD/OHV is recommended for the power-line approach; FR 406 is typically passable when dry.
